GAINESVILLE, FL – Farmers and producers (both large and small) that are interested in selling to schools without having to go through bidding processes are needed. Schools want what these producers grow not just for their plates but for their school gardens, to visit these farms for field trips and so much more. Schools want to buy these producers commodities whether its fish, fruit, vegetables, or honey.
The office of FDACS will be sharing more on the RFSI grant funds and Farm to School in March at the Farm to School conference in Orlando March 6th thru the 8th 2024. The RFSI funds will be released next year, and FDACS will be going to keep producers in the loop on how to get these free dollars available for local Florida farmers and producers to help ensure producers have the equipment needed to help producers sell to schools without having to go through the bid process to get started! First complete the3-minute survey and then register for the conference as a producer/farmer.
Doing both the survey and registering for the conference will prepare producers for ensuring that they are in the know first for the RFSI grant funds information (to go directly to farmers/producers/fisheries/ranchers) and will get producers directly in front of 2 SFA’s who are willing to do business with producer’s businesses with FDACS sitting in ensuring we get to the goal of starting small and ensuring FDACS gets at least one of each producer’s products in a school to start small.
