Harley V. Cutlip was Volusia County Farm Bureau executive director for 19 years. In his memory, and to continue his spirit of giving, Farm Bureau announces the 2020-21 Harley V. Cutlip Memorial Scholarship.
Awarded students get up to $1,500 for the 2020-2021 school year. Students must be graduating Volusia public school, home school seniors, or in college with a minimum one-year family membership in the Volusia County Farm Bureau. Prior scholarship may also apply. College and high school students will be judged separately.
Applicants must attend an accredited college or university as a full-time student. Scholarship money will be pro-rated on a semester basis and will be paid directly to the college or university with credit given to the scholarship recipient.
Only those applications that score at least 90 percent on the judge’s scorecard – 40 percent for scholastic achievement, 40 percent for leadership involvement in school and community, 10 percent for essay, and 10 percent for lettersnof recommendation – will be considered.
To apply, please cut out the general information form and send it along with:
1. An official high school and college academic record (transcript of grades)
2. Record of leadership involvement in high school, college and community,
including honors, awards, evidence of leadership roles in high school and/or
college, community programs, church, 4-H, FFA, FHA, etc.
3. An essay containing 500 words or less about your future plans and the
reasons for applying for a Farm Bureau scholarship.
4. Three letters of recommendation by individuals other than family members.
