Does your child learn about agriculture in school? It’s time to reserve your seat for the 2020 Volusia County Farm Bureau Annual Women’s Breakfast on Saturday, March 7 at 9 a.m.
Farm Bureau Women’s Committee hosts the breakfast. Each year, they arrange for a special guest speaker and entertainment. This year’s special guest spends her days reaching out to youngsters and educators, encouraging them to know more about agriculture. The Women’s Committee is pleased to welcome Florida Ag in the Classroom Executive Director, Becky Sponholtz.
Sponholtz has been with Florida Agriculture in the Classroom since 2013 and became executive director in 2017. Before then, she was a high school agriscience instructor and FFA advisor. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science and a Master of Agriculture from Auburn University. She is married to Corbin Sponholtz and has a son, Landon and daughter, Chandlee.
FAITC is a non-profit organization that works to increase agriculture awareness and teach the importance of agriculture to school age children through curricula and other materials developed to train teachers and agriculture industry volunteers. The program, funded by the Florida Ag Tag specialty license plate, also provides grant money to educators and volunteers to be used for projects that teach students where their food comes from.
This Farm Bureau MEMBERS ONLY free event is just one of the many benefits of being a Farm Bureau member. At the breakfast MEMBERS get great food, door prizes, a raffle, and entertainment.
