Students can apply now for Harley V. Cutlip Memorial Scholarship

Volusia County Farm Bureau is pleased to announce applications are available for the 2023-24 Harley V. Cutlip Memorial Scholarship. Mr. Cutlip served as executive director of Volusia County Farm Bureau for 19 years. In the spirit of his generosity, students can get up to $1,500 toward their education.

To qualify, students must be graduating or have graduated from a Volusia public school or home school. A minimum of one-year family membership in the Volusia Farm Bureau is required. Prior scholarship recipients may reapply. Current college and high school students will be judged separately.

Applicants must attend an accredited college or university as a full-time student. Scholarship money will be prorated on a semester basis and will be paid directly to the college or university with credit given to the student’s account.

Only those applicants that score at least of 90 percent on the judges’ scorecards will be considered. Students will be judged as follows: 40% for scholastic achievement, 40% for leadership involvement in school and community, 10% for the essay, 10% for letters of recommendation.

To apply, complete the application at Scholarship Application or on the Volusia County Farm Bureau website along with the following information:

1.      An official high school and college academic record (transcript of grades). Prior applicants do not need to resubmit their high school transcripts.

2.      Record of leadership involvement in high school, college and community including honors, awards, evidence of leadership roles high school/ college, community programs, church, 4-H, FFA, FHA, etc.

3.      An essay of up to 500 words about your future plans and the reason for applying for a Farm Bureau scholarship.

4.      Three letters of recommendation by individuals other than family members.

Mail or deliver the completed application and supporting documents to the “Scholarship Committee”, Volusia County Farm Bureau, 3090 E.
