Prevent spreading germs at Farmers Market

Volusia County Farm Bureau wants all who visit the Farmers Market on Wednesdays at the fairgrounds to be safe and healthy. County officials and FDOH are promoting a key message for prevention, asking everyone to be individually responsible and to focus on preventing the spread of germs.

Visitors to and vendors working at the Farmers Market should wash their hands often and thoroughly, using soap and water for at least 20 seconds. That may seem like a long time, but it’s your best bet at protection. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.

Individuals should also use these preventive measures:

· Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
· Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then dispose of the tissue and wash your hands.
· Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
· Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
· Please stay home when you are sick.
